Continue through moorland to Barranco
After breakfast, continue ascending through the forest before emerging into the heather and moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper with occasional rocky sections as you climb towards Barranco Camp.
Today's trek offers spectacular views as you climb above the clouds. The vegetation changes dramatically from rainforest to moorland. Arrive at Barranco Camp (3,900m) with its famous views of the Barranco Wall and Southern Icefields.
Barranco Camp Luxury Setup

Joining Machame Route
Today you join the popular Machame Route at Barranco Camp. From here, you'll continue with trekkers from other routes while enjoying the benefits of your luxury expedition.
Conquer the Barranco Wall
Today begins with the famous Barranco Wall ascent - a challenging but non-technical scramble that offers incredible views. After conquering the wall, continue through alpine desert to Karanga Camp.
The Barranco Wall is often the highlight of the day, offering spectacular photo opportunities. After the wall, the trail descends into the Karanga Valley before ascending to Karanga Camp (4,035m). This "climb high, sleep low" strategy is excellent for acclimatization.
Barranco Wall (4,200m)
The famous Barranco Wall is a non-technical scramble that looks more intimidating than it actually is. With your expert guides, you'll navigate this exciting section safely while enjoying spectacular views.

Ascend to base camp for summit attempt
Today you ascend to Barafu Camp (4,673m), your base camp for the summit attempt. The trail climbs steadily through alpine desert with increasingly spectacular views of the summit.
The relatively short trek allows for acclimatization and rest before summit night. Arrive at Barafu Camp in time for lunch, followed by rest and preparation for your summit attempt. An early dinner is served before resting for a few hours.
