A breathtaking natural amphitheater teeming with wildlife, Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa's most spectacular safari destinations
Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is often called "Africa's Garden of Eden" for its stunning beauty and incredible concentration of wildlife.
The crater floor covers 260 square kilometers (100 square miles) and is home to approximately 25,000 large animals, including some of Tanzania's last remaining black rhinos. The crater's walls rise 600 meters (2,000 feet) from the floor, creating a natural enclosure for the wildlife within.
